The Sin of Omission

I got this sermon from another preacher, not a member of the church, and tweaked it for my taste.  The text is James 4:17 and there are some wonderful lessons about this sin.

I Hate Every False Way

This is our 26th lesson in the Reading Thru the Bible series.  This lesson is taken from one of the great chapters in Psalm, 119:104.  Is it ok for God (or us) to “hate” something.  Let’s see.

What We Should Bring To Church

What Everyone Should Bring To Church

Psalm 100 is a Psalm of praise to our Creator.  When we come before Him in praise and worship we are to do so in truth and in spirit (John 3).  The Psalmist gives thanks to God for all He has done and so should we.  Let’s notice some things we need to bring when we come together to worship our God and Father.

The People That Know Their God

Daniel 11:32 gives us the title of this lesson and it is one that must be true with God’s people today as it was then. What/Who is God? Let’s see…

Our Young Ladies

We have a wonderful group of young ladies at this congregation.  As you can tell they are joy to see each time we are together.  Jesus said we must be like these if we ever want to enter His kingdom (Matt. 19:14; Mark 10:14; Luke 18:16).  Basically we parents tell our children to behave like adults, but Jesus tells the adults to model themselves after the children.  Interesting isn’t it?  They are humble, and receptive.  Children, for the most part, live by faith.  They have to.  We adults have to make things known to them of which they have to accept.  That is exactly how we must live…by faith.  We must be seen as “precious” in the sight of the Lord (1 Peter 1:7).

The DUMP in Honduras

This video footage was taken at the DUMP there in Honduras.  Some of us in Jackson has been there and even helped other groups that had brought food and water.  We have not been there in a couple of years but some groups still try to go and help the people living there.  This is a very dangerous place to work.  The place where I found the footage is a blog of one of the Honduras workers (a minister for the Mitchell Church of Christ in Mitchell, Indiana) who is there now working.  He has been giving updates about their.  If you want to read more about their trip who can go here.

“For You Have Not Passed This Way Before”

\”For you have not passed this way before\”

The Israelites are on the edge of the Jordan hearing some last-minute instruction.  In Joshua 3:4 they were told to stay behind the ark and know that no other has been led as they will be…with God paving the way miraculously across Jordan and into the land of promise.  Let’s learn some great lessons from this wonderful story.

Romans 5:8 has one of the most powerful statements heard by man.  Let’s look at the last four words in this passage and examine them closely.
